Gary Robbins

Gary Robbins is a Senior Associate at the firm’s Long Island office.

 

Mr. Robbins was admitted to the New York bar in 1997.

 

He graduated cum laude from SUNY New Paltz with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1992. He obtained his Juris Doctor from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 1997.

 

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Robbins was General Counsel for a national facilities maintenance company, where he was responsible for all legal, compliance, regulatory, licensing and insurance matters. Mr. Robbins began his legal career as an associate in a mid-sized insurance defense firm in NYC, where he represented various insurance carriers, construction companies, retailers and municipalities.

 

Mr. Robbins focuses his practice on the defense of matters involving general liability, premises liability, motor vehicle liability, property damage claims, and New York Labor Law.

 

 

Jyoti Halsband

Jyoti M. Halsband is a Senior Associate at the firm’s New York City office.

 

Ms. Halsband is an experienced litigator specializing in the defense of general liability, labor law, construction, premises and automobile litigation throughout New York and New Jersey, both in State and Federal Courts.  Additionally, she has litigated employment law cases, including employment discrimination based upon gender, race, national origin, disability and other protected characteristics. In particular, she has provided counsel to employees and employers alike faced with unlawful termination, discrimination and retaliation. She has litigated many such claims throughout New York, New Jersey, and at the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

 

Ms. Halsband began her legal career as an Appellate Court Attorney at the Supreme Court of the State of New York, Appellate Division, Second Department in Brooklyn, New York, where she drafted confidential memoranda and proposed appellate opinions for the Justices. She was also an associate at New York and New Jersey law firms where she specialized in defending against automobile, premises, construction, labor law and general liability claims.

 

Ms. Halsband received her Bachelor’s degree from Binghamton University and her law degree from New York Law School where she graduated magna cum laude. She is admitted to the bars of New York and New Jersey and the United States District Courts for the Districts of New Jersey and the Southern, Eastern and Northern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Paul W. Sonstein

 

 

Paul Sonstein brings a wealth of expertise in many facets of litigation, including risk assessment, case analysis and strategic legal planning. Throughout a distinguished career, Paul has held pivotal roles in several law firms, including Head of the Workers’ Compensation Department, Partner in the Litigation Department and Managing Member of the Firm. Paul’s work has spanned a wide range of complex legal matters, with a consistent focus on delivering results through meticulous preparation and decisive advocacy.

 

In addition to extensive litigation experience, Mr. Sonstein has served as In­ House Counsel and Director of Legal Services for regional business entities, offering guidance on compliance, liability and corporate governance. His tenure as a Municipal Court Judge in multiple New Jersey vicinages further underscores his deep understanding of legal processes from multiple vantage points.

 

A graduate of Temple University (B.A. in Political Science and Business Law) and Rutgers Law School (J.D. in International Law and Business), Mr. Sonstein has acquired a deep educational understanding of the legal process. Paul is also a published author in the realm of historical fiction, showcasing a lifelong passion for storytelling and American history.

 

Known for strategic insight, professional integrity and a client-focused approach, Paul Sonstein continues to shape the legal landscape of New Jersey with a reputation built on experience and trust.

 

Jessica Drury

Jessica L. Drury is a New York–licensed litigator with experience in both state and federal courts. She focuses her practice on insurance defense, including medical malpractice, premises liability, labor law, and motor vehicle litigation.

Jessica has built her career in high-volume, trial-focused Manhattan firms, where she handled complex civil matters from inception through resolution. Before joining her current firm, she founded her own practice and served as General Counsel to several companies in the securities, commercial real estate, and entertainment industries—advising on regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, and litigation strategy.

She began her career as the first in-house counsel for a major staffing corporation immediately after passing the bar and later completed a Judicial Fellowship with the New York State Supreme Court. Jessica brings a results-driven, strategic approach to every case, combining courtroom skill with business insight to protect her clients’ interests.

William Reinhardt

William (Billy) Reinhardt was admitted to the New York State bar in 2024. Billy received his Juris Doctor from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University (Class of 2023) and holds an undergraduate degree in Applied Accounting & Finance from Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business (Class of 2019).

Daniel Spafford

Daniel G. Spafford is associate attorney and a member of the firm’s Workers’ Compensation practice group.

Mr. Spafford focuses his practice exclusively on Workers’ Compensation cases.  Prior to joining the Firm, he handled cases for both employers and employees in civil and Workers’ Compensation matters.   Mr. Spafford also represented medical providers seeking payment of their fees in Workers’ Compensation proceedings.

Mr. Spafford regularly handles Workers’ Compensation matters from start to finish, which includes guiding clients through the case process, interacting with expert witnesses, preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings, and appeal proceedings.

Mr. Spafford handles the defense of workers’ compensation matters in New York and New Jersey.  He is also licensed to practice law in the state of Pennsylvania.

An amateur vocalist, when not practicing law, Mr. Spafford also enjoys using computer programs to write music.

 

 

 

 

Marissa Hercules

Marissa Hercules is an associate at the firm’s New York City Office.

 

Ms. Hercules amassed extensive litigation experience in motor vehicle, premises, municipal, labor law and general liability matters. She has practiced litigation and settlement negotiation in all City, Westchester and Long Island Supreme Courts as well as in the Second Department.

 

Before joining the firm, Ms. Hercules worked in both private firms and for the City of New York handling motor vehicle law, premises law, municipal law, and labor law matters. She has managed cases from commencement through to pretrial, along with mediations and arbitrations.

 

Ms. Hercules completed her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science minoring in Philosophy at the University of Buffalo. She thereafter completed her Juris Doctorate at the Maurice A. Dean School of Law, during which time she was named arbitration champion of the 2013 FINRA Dispute Resolution Triathlon.

 

 

 

Ayse Yetis

Ayse Gulen Yetis is an associate attorney in the New York City office. Her practice focuses on civil litigation defense, including premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, and general negligence claims.

 

Before joining Sobel Pevzner, Ayse practiced law in Istanbul, Turkey, where she represented corporate and individual clients in high-stakes commercial litigation matters. Her legal background also includes experience in regulatory compliance, risk management, and advising on the structuring and execution of complex commercial agreements.

 

Ayse holds an LL.M. in International Business and Trade Law from Fordham University School of Law and earned her LL.B. from Istanbul University. She is admitted to practice in both New York and Turkey. She is fluent in English and Turkish and is proficient in open-source intelligence (OSINT) research, which she integrates into litigation strategy and fact development in complex matters.

 

 

 

Tony Orlich

Mr. Orlich is an associate with the firm. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York as well as the Eastern District of New York.  He focuses his practice in the area of general liability including  premises liability, amusements, sports and recreation, automobile, labor law, construction and general negligence. He has represented numerus clients in all aspects of the litigation process including mediation and arbitration. 

 

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Orlich was an associate at a boutique litigation firm in NYC where he focused his practice on products liability, aviation litigation, and commercial litigation. Upon graduating law school, Mr. Orlich was a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Manuel J. Mendez in the Supreme Court of New York, New York County.  

 

Mr. Orlich graduated from St. John’s University, magna cum laude, in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a minor in International Studies. Thereafter, he attended Fordham Law School where he obtained his juris doctor, graduating in 2016.  

Angelica Fromer

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Fromer served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Richard English, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Monmouth County. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Miami in 2020 with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in International Studies and Communications, and a minor in Philosophy. She earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Notre Dame Law School in 2023.

Rose-Carline Delicieux

Rose-Carline Delicieux is an Associate at the firm’s Long Island office. She earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Université de Montréal in 2004 and her Master of Laws (LL.M.) with Honors from Hofstra University School of Law in 2006. Ms. Delicieux was admitted to practice law in the State of New York in 2007.

 

Ms. Delicieux has represented clients on both the claimant and carrier/employer sides of New York State Workers’ Compensation matters. This balanced experience gives her a comprehensive understanding of the claims process and the strategies employed by all parties involved. Her insight into both perspectives enables her to anticipate opposing arguments, identify key issues early, and craft well-informed approaches that protect her clients’ interests and support efficient claim resolution.

 

Ms. Delicieux is fluent in both English and French.
